Myofascial Release Therapy
Myo=muscle, Fascia=connective tissue Everything in our body is supported by and linked to connective tissue. It is what holds us up and holds us in our own unique posture. So, much like it sounds, this therapy works directly with connective tissue and its link to muscle - helping to release tension and restrictions in muscles, soft tissue, joints and supporting structures. Freeing these restrictions and tension in connective tissue has proven to be very effective in the treatment of Chronic and Acute pain, and also aid in injury recovery.
Myofascial release uses subtle but effective techniques providing lasting results by stretching, loosening, unwinding and releasing tension wherever it may be. We seek to find and treat the cause of the problem not just the symptoms. You can enjoy muscular freedom, improved range of motion, and relief from pain and discomfort. The end result is often a feeling of a really good stretch along with a feeling of deep relaxation.
Recommendations for appointments: I have found that booking sessions in an initial group of 3 is the best way to experience the true and profound benefits of Myofascial Release. Session 1: Assessment, treatment and evaluation. Session 2: Treatment and evaluation. Session 3: Assessment, treatment, evaluation and recommendations
What to wear: Having as much access to skin is extremely helpful. You will have the comfort of covers during the session with modifications made for the areas being worked on. For men, I recommend boxers/briefs and/or loose fitting athletic shorts. For women, I recommend a sports bra or bikini top and briefs and/or loose fitting athletic shorts.
